‘You are working for the Devil!’ Moment conspiracy theorist Piers Corbyn storms XR church service. This is the moment conspiracy theorist Piers Corbyn crashed an Extinction Rebellion church service in London where he told eco activists they are ‘working for the Devil’. The brother of former Labour leader Jeremy started ranting at a congregation who had gathered for a discussion on climate change at St John Church in Waterloo. The 76-year-old told hundreds of people sat in the pews that ‘man made climate change does not exist’ before he was escorted out and told a vicar to ‘get off me’. As Mr Corbyn was being calmly ushered outside, those gathered for the ‘No Faith in Fossil Fuels’ service began to sing the John Newton hymn Amazing Grace. Chine McDonald, director of the Christian think tank Theos and author of the book God Is Not A White Man, was in the congregation and tweeted about the incident. She said: ‘Incredibly moving moment when Piers Corbyn tried to disrupt the gathering, but was gently ushered out by an impromptu collective singing of Amazing Grace, complete with harmonies. May have also had a little argument with him for handing out leaflets outside and telling people to pray for more CO2.’
