The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s (#HKSAR) Legislative Council or LegCo held 49 meetings last year and unlike in the past, there were no unruly scenes. It led a #LegCo member to proclaim that “the filibuster, abuse of rules and legal procedures are no longer in existence.” What led to this change? Has HKSAR deviated from its journey towards greater democracy? In the special series celebrating the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, Liu Xin talked with Junius Ho, who is also former president of the Law Society of HKSAR and current Chair of the Tuen Mun Rural Committee. He was stabbed during the turmoil in 2019 but has since recovered.
