ITV News published this video item, entitled “The Guardian removes ‘Letter to America’ after TikTokers react to Osama bin Laden | ITV News” – below is their description.
The Guardian has removed a letter addressed to America from Osama Bin Laden.
Videos about the letter went viral on TikTok – but they’ve now been banned from the platform for ‘violating their rules’.
It comes after one user’s video, which has now been taken down, pointed viewers to read the letter, framing it in the context of today’s war between Israel and the proscribed terror group Hamas
It was originally published by The Observer newspaper after 9/11 and was written by the founder of terror group Al Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden, who was the mastermind behind the attacks.
As a result the Guardian issued a statement saying that “due to the letter being widely shared on social media without the full context they’ve taken it down”
It comes as a group of prominent Jewish celebrities and influencers confronted TikTok executives
According to the New York Times actor Sacha Baron Cohen said “What is happening at TikTok is it is creating the biggest antisemitic movement” since World War II
TikTok said the the “letter clearly violates our rules on supporting any form of terrorism” and have taken action
