The company was founded in 2012 by Brian Armstrong and Fred Ehrsam, and as of March 2021, was the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States by trading volume. Coinbase IPO’d on the Nasdaq exchange on 14 April 2021, via a Direct Listing, they carry the stock ticker COIN.
Gary Gensler is an American government official and former investment banker serving as the chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Gensler previously led the Biden–Harris transition’s Federal Reserve, Banking, and Securities Regulators agency review team.
