Almost five months since he left Siberia in a coma following an alleged poisoning, Alexei Navalny has boarded a plane in Berlin to return to Russia. The opposition figure is due to land in Moscow at 7:20pm local time.
The flight carrying the anti-corruption activist and Moscow protest leader became the most tracked plane on the Flight Radar service on Sunday. “I expect beautiful weather in Moscow, at minus 23°C, and a pleasant feeling that I have reached my hometown,” Navalny told reporters on board the plane.
Alexei Navalny is a Russian opposition leader, politician, lawyer, and anti-corruption activist. He came to international prominence by organizing demonstrations and running for office to advocate reforms against corruption in Russia, president Vladimir Putin, and Putin’s government.
