Murdochs give $5 million to fund children’s health research

Sky News Australia published this video item, entitled “Murdochs give $5 million to fund children’s health research” – below is their description.

Sarah and Lachlan Murdoch will donate $5 million to the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute to fund more medical research. The donation will attract some of the world’s leading researchers in stem cell technology and genomic medicine. “Now more than ever during COVID, we have more appreciation for medical research. I think we can’t underestimate the top talent that we have in Australia,” Sarah Murdoch told Sky News. “With this fellowship, we’re hoping to do a global search and ensure we continue to do the very best research. “I’ve been involved with the institute for 20 years and I’ve seen it transform from being top institute in Australia to now top three in the world. “We created this fellowship because we are obviously very passionate about continuing Dame Elisabeth’s legacy at the Murdoch Children’s.” The MCRI is the largest child health research institute in Australia, which pioneers new treatments, trials better vaccines and improves diagnoses of sick babies and children. The inaugural Sarah and Lachlan Murdoch Fellow will commence their research program in 2021.
