The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “In full: Priti Patel: protests can’t happen during Covid despite being ‘cornerstone of democracy'” – below is their description.
Priti Patel is expected to give a statement to the House of Commons this afternoon on the Metropolitan Police’s handling of a vigil in memory of Sarah Everard.
She is also one of several ministers expected to attend a crunch meeting with Dame Cressida Dick today, along with the director of public prosecutions Max Hill, Robert Buckland, the Justice Secretary, and the Prime Minister.
The Metropolitan Police Commissioner, who yesterday insisted she would not resign, said her officers were having to interpret Covid restrictions while applying common sense and discretion as she hit out at “armchair” critics who attacked the police when they got it wrong.
