Liz Truss has begun sacking ministers in preparation for her new Cabinet, with three Rishi Sunak allies being told to leave the Government.

Dominic Raab, Grant Shapps and Steve Barclay – the three most prominent backers of Mr Sunak in the Cabinet – have all been sacked.

Ms Truss, who was appointed Prime Minister this afternoon, is set to start announcing her Cabinet team this evening.
