Sky News Australia published this video item, entitled “CommBank stood ‘right by the side’ of the St John Ambulance amid lockdown hardship” – below is their description.
Sky News host Paul Murray says in Darwin, the St John Ambulance is “leading the charge when it comes to emergency medical responses” and that during struggles caused by the COVID-19 pandemic the Commonwealth Bank has “had their back”. “Saving lives and building community resilience, it’s what St John does best,” Mr Murray said. “Sadly, these are not immune when it comes to dealing with COVID-19.” St John Ambulance NT CEO Judith Barker told Mr Murray it was “really hard” for the organisation to continue delivering its services amid the lockdown. Mr Murray said in a year plagued by isolation and lockdown, 300 volunteers “stepped up” and rallied to keep things going by contributing 12,555 hours of volunteer duty. “For St John Ambulance, there was another lifeline during the pandemic too – our mates at the Commonwealth Bank, it wasn’t just money, they helped them to reach out personally,” he said. Ms Barker said the support from the Commonwealth Bank was “so overwhelming”. “They were right by our side,” she said. “On the whole, the Commonwealth Bank in the Territory … are part of our team up here.” Mr Murray said the Commonwealth Bank made sure “our mates” at the St John Ambulance in Darwin “could keep keeping on”.
