Children dropped from burning apartment survive after being caught by onlookers

Two young children have survived jumping from a third floor flat after it caught on fire.

The children, aged three and 10, had been left inside the apartment without keys.

They were forced to jump almost 40 feet into the arms of a group gathered below.

The eldest child lowered the three-year-old out of the window by his arms before dropping him.

The children are said to be unharmed apart from smoke inhalation.

However, it has been reported that at least one of the rescuers was left with a broken arm from the force of the catch.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, as is the reason why these children were left alone.
