Chad after Idriss Déby: Choice between stability and democracy?

FRANCE 24 English published this video item, entitled “Chad after Idriss Déby: Choice between stability and democracy?” – below is their description.

The dust is far from settled in Chad. Ten days after the killing on the battlefield of longtime stringman Idriss Déby, more protests in the capital against the coup that’s put Deby’s son at the head of a transitional military council. We ask about the deadly crackdown on those banned demonstrations. And the firm condemnation from former colonial power France whose president traveled to N’Djamena last Friday for Deby’s funeral and who cannot afford to see anti-French sentiment grow at a time when Chad remains the centerpiece of Paris-led regional efforts to combat jihadist insurgencies.
