Gigi Hadid and her family say they’ve been receiving death threats – and have had to change their number -after sharing their support for Palestine online.
It comes after the model who is half Palestinian faced fierce backlash from the Israeli government following her statement amid the on-going war.
Posting on IG to her 79 mill followers, Gigi wrote ‘every human deserves basic rights, treatment and security; no matter their nationality or religion’.
She added, showing support for Palestine is not anti-semetic, nor does it signify justification for killing innocent people.
In response, Israel’s government account tagged the 28-year-old directly, accusing her of turning a blind eye to the Jewish suffering
They wrote: Your silence has been very clear about where you stand. We see you.’
However, it’s led to mixed opinions online, with many pointing out the bizarre nature of a verified government account to be actively attacking celebrities, – whilst in a war.
Meanwhile, sister Bella Hadid has so far remained silent, but has previously been very vocal in her support for Palestinian cause.
