Amazon has announced its Instant Video App for the Nintendo Wii U, which allows gamers to stream more than 140,000 movies & TV episodes.

Anthony Bay, Vice President of Worldwide Digital Video for Amazon.com said:

“We’re constantly working to create the best streaming video experience for our customers, and to do that it’s essential to provide access on as many devices as possible.

“The Amazon Instant Video app on Wii U gives customers more ways to enjoy video in the comfort of their home. The Second Screen Experience lets customers browse, search and even play movies or TV directly on the GamePad controller.”

One feature of the new service is Whispersync, which lets customers seamlessly switch from one device to another.

“Start streaming a movie on Kindle Fire, then pick up right where you left off on your Wii U – avoid the frustration of having to find your spot.”

The announcement follows the launch of the Nintendo Wii U this week. Hundreds of fans queued for up to a week to be first to get their hands on the new console.
