Stephen Bayliss of Great Britain and Amy Marsh of the United States both triumphed at the inaugural Challenge Vichy on Sunday 21st August 2011. The French spa town played host to the iron distance challenge among temperatures exceeding 43 celcius and strong headwinds during the bike section.

Both champions led from the swim with Bayliss only briefly losing pole position during the marathon. Challenge Vichy comprised a 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike and 42.2 km run to fully test the strength of the world-class triathlon competitors.
