Four race meetings will take place in the UK on the afternoon of Wednesday 18 January 2017.
There is National Hunt racing at Newbury and Market Rasen, and a card of all weather flat racing in the afternoon at Lingfield and evening, at Kempton.
Fortuno has been through the cards to arrive at a selection of seven tips for Thursday’s racing.
Nap of the Day is the Mark Johnston trained, Jessica Jo, which runs in the 4.50 at Kempton under P McDonald. This horse has been knocking on the door for a while and has run well enough to show promise, without impressing the handicapper in the process. Consequently, today’s weights are looking good for another strong performance, and each way value still, just, exists at a price of 9/2 at a 1/4 the odds for a place 1,2,3. Expected to make the frame, and a win would not be unexpected, despite being a 10 race maiden now. Has only one or two to beat in this poor race, on paper.
Next Best for Wednesday is Noble Legend in the 3.15 at Market Rasen. This front-running horse has not really been firing of late, but is supremely handicapped if he can recover the form of last spring. Ridden by the talented Harry Skelton for Mrs Caroline Bailey, a chance is taken on a return to form at a good price of 13/2. If this race was run last March, a win would be all but assured, however, the concern is a recent spate of poor runs. First time blinkers today may hold the key.
