UK Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday 13 December 2016

Two National Hunt meetings, at Catterick and Wincanton, and an afternoon of all weather flat racing at Southwell, are scheduled for Tuesday 13th December 2016.

Fresh from Monday’s successes, which saw all but one of his tips make the frame, Fortuno has once more scoured the day’s racing looking for likely value, to arrive at seven selections, detailed below.

Nap of the Day is Clondaw Shane which runs for Philip Hobbs in the 3.40 at Wincanton under Tom O’Brien. This horse was second in an Irish Point to Point before joining the powerful Hobbs yard following a £55,000 purchase in May. A pleasing debut second at this course last month should be enough to put that bit of sharpness into the horse, and a small amount of improvement should see him in the winners enclosure. A strong each-way chance at an early price of 5/1.

Next Best for Tuesday is an interesting Lambourn runner in Catterick’s 3.20 National Hunt Flat Race, where Jamie Snowden runs Blue Bullet under the impressive Harry Skelton. This horse is a well-bred half brother to 2m chaser Rileyev and, while he was disappointing on a May debut in a 2m bumper at Uttoxeter, must be expected to be better on this return to action, with connections sending him on a decent round trip looking for prize money. An early price of 16/1 has been snapped up and the horse is now 12/1 generally – meaning an each-way play makes sense. A well connected horse, but must be trusted to put a so-so debut behind him.

Another horse to note in the betting is Stuart Williams’ Bring on a Spinner who runs in the 12.30 at Southwell, and has been backed from 4/1 in to 11/4 second favourite. This horse won twice on Southwell’s fibresand with blinkers on before showing much less on turf and without headgear. The blinkers are back today, and there is good market support for this horse.
