Racing TV published this video item, entitled “The Verdict: QIPCO Guineas Festival special | Racing TV” – below is their description.
Our presenter Angus McNae looks at the numbers and puts the performances of some high-class horses under the microscope in the latest episode of The Verdict as we review a memorable 2023 QIPCO Guineas Festival.
Chaldean landed the QIPCO 2000 Guineas for trainer Andrew Balding, owner and breeder Juddmonte and notably jockey Frankie Dettori in the great jockey’s final season in the saddle, but what was the merit of the colt’s performance and how exactly did he triumph in the colts’ Classic at Newmarket?
Our expert believes that the QIPCO 1000 Guineas was a very high-class race run at a very good tempo and producing a time figure that makes it the best race of the season so far. Would the winner Mawj – finally a top-level and Classic winner once again for trainer Saeed bin Suroor – be able to confirm the form with the fast-finishing Tahiyra in a rematch?
Angus also looks at the strong front-running effort of Mutasaabeq in the rescheduled bet365 Mile and high-class older horses Adayar and Hurricane Lane – both Classic and Group One winners as three-year-olds – bouncing back to form at Newmarket under jockey William Buick for trainer Charlie Appleby and owners Godolphin.
