Churchill – Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas

Dual Guineas winner! Churchill completes the Newmarket and Curragh double with a commanding performance on ground softer than ideal at the Curragh in the Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas under jockey Ryan Moore for trainer Aidan O’Brien.

A fourth dual Guineas winner for Aidan O’Brien after Rock Of Gibraltar (2002), Henrythenavigator (2008) and Gleneagles (2015), Churchill finds plenty late on to defeat Thunder Snow and Irishcorrespondent for a fourth triumph at Group 1 level.

After refraining from a crack at the Investec Derby to stay at a mile, the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot and a rematch with Newmarket Guineas runner-up Barney Roy is now on the cards for Churchill, with a potential tilt at the Irish Champion Stakes over a mile and a quarter later in the season a distinct possibility at this stage for the Galileo colt.
