Football: Barclays Premier League Fixtures, Wednesday 2 February 2011

Six Barclays Premier League fixtures are scheduled for the evening of Wednesday 2nd February 2011.

Birmingham v Man City – Kick-Off (GMT) 19:45

An important match for both teams takes place at Birmingham’s St Andrews stadium: Birmingham are only out of the drop zone courtesy of goal difference they enjoy over Wigan, while Man City need three points to get back within six of the league leaders, Manchester United, and second placed Arsenal, both of whom won last night.

Blackburn v Tottenham – Kick-Off (GMT) 20:00

If Spurs have serious designs on this year’s title, they simply must win this match away at Blackburn. However, with the return of Santa Cruz, they may offer a tough nut to crack at home. A win could put Blackburn 7th in the league.

Blackpool v West Ham – Kick-Off (GMT) 20:00

What might have been a relegation battle is actually 12th v 20th and Blackpool, with several new faces in their squad, and having kept Charlie Adam at least to this season’s climax, will feel confident in their own back yard. West Ham need a win to get out of trouble: they could exit the relegation zone with three points.

Bolton v Wolverhampton – Kick-Off (GMT) 20:00

Wolves are another side for whom three points would spell a few days out of the drop zone, so Bolton must be on their game to keep the expansive midlanders out this evening. Bolton’s early season form has deserted them, resulting in a slide to 11th in the league: they’ll look to arrest that this evening.

Fulham v Newcastle – Kick-Off (GMT) 20:00

Both Fulham and Newcastle have a different feel to their squads after Monday’s deadline day re-shuffles, so it will be interesting to see how these two match up this evening. While Newcastle are 9th and Fulham are 15th heading into this match, there are only four points between these sids. Fulham will be looking to reduce that to one point at Craven Cottage.

Liverpool v Stoke – Kick-Off (GMT) 20:00

Liverpool will be hoping for a win following their big money ins and outs this week, while Stoke have also experienced a number of transfers on Monday – principally of the “out” variety, so they’ll be desperate to get something from this tricky match at Anfield. Liverpool have risen to seventh following their sticky start: they need a win to continue their push for Europe.
