The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “Yemen strikes: Regional widening of Israel-Hamas war has now taken place | Analysis” – below is their description.
Britain and the United States launched airstrikes against their military bases, striking more that 60 targets in 16 locations.
Four RAF Typhoons used Paveway IV, 500 lbs, guided bombs in ‘‘precision strikes” on two targets, according to the MoD – and I’ll come back to what that actually means later on.
One of the targets in Bani, north-west Yemen, is a site the MoD said had been used to launch spy and attack drones.
Neither of the two Royal Navy warships currently in the Red Sea – the air defence destroyer HMS Diamond and the frigate HMS Lancaster – were directly involved in the strikes.
A ministry spokesperson said the “early indications are that the Houthis’ ability to threaten merchant shipping has taken a blow”.
The US said the strikes “targeted sites associated with the Houthis’ unmanned aerial vehicle, ballistic and cruise missile, and coastal radar and air surveillance capabilities”.
