Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered his work report at the opening of the much-anticipated 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on October 16, 2022. The report summed up party achievements, and outlined nearly all aspects of the country’s domestic and international policies as well as the course the party has planned for the country. The twice-a-decade gathering expected to usher in a precedent-breaking third term as party general secretary for Xi. After the congress concludes in a week’s time, the party will unveil names of members for a new 300-strong Central Committee, the new Politburo and the top-echelon body, the Politburo Standing Committee.
