World Health Organization officials are expected to hold a briefing on Monkeypox and other global health concerns on Tuesday.
There have been more than 1,000 monkeypox cases reported to the World Health Organization in the current outbreak outside the countries in Africa where it more commonly spreads.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the risk of monkeypox becoming established in these non-endemic countries was real but preventable at this point.
The European Union will sign an agreement with an undisclosed vaccine maker on Tuesday for the supply of about 110,000 doses of vaccines against monkeypox to be delivered from the end of June, the EU health commissioner Stella Kyriakides said.
