« I am a little skeptical about industrial sovereignty. A part of the reason why battery plants are in China is that #China has lithium resources. The other places are Chile and so on. I think normal economics will drive where the batteries are to be made. Remember there are three manufacture stages: the manufacture of the cell, manufacture of the battery pack and the manufacture of the electric vehicle. Those can be distributed. I don’t think people are going to go crazy and try to build battery plants in every country. « It makes sense to do things where it’s most economical. What drives the car purchase? Its price and design. If you can’t get the car to the people at the right price, they are not going to buy it. In Norway, yes people can afford cars. But in Asia, price is a huge issue. We just can’t say we are going to give everybody a 25000 dollar credit. Even the Chinese are struggling with this now. »
