Watch again: Government announces £1 billion ‘catch-up plan’ to be rolled out for children

Part of the new approach in returning children across the country to school will involve an “ambitious catch-up plan” to ensure that no child is left with gaps in their education because of the pandemic.

A total of £1 billion will be provided, with schools able to tailor any funding they receive to the specific needs of their pupils, Gavin Williamson said.

Mr Williamson also announced that a £350m national tutoring programme will be introduced to increase access to high-quality tuition for disadvantaged young people.
