Venezuela calls for drastic measures in face of electricity crisis

For the next two months, Venezuelans will begin their weekends on Fridays.

The government’s decision is an effort to curb power consumption as the main hydro-electric dam hits record lows.

President Maduro also asked Venezuelans to lessen their use of machine clothes driers, and for women to use hair driers “only for special occasions”.

Al Jazeera’s Virginia Lopez reports from Caracas.
