US: President Trump defends Comey firing

US President Donald Trump has defended his decision to sack FBI Director James Comey.

The White House said he was fired over his handling of the inquiry into leaked emails from Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

Comey had also been leading an investigation into possible Russian collusion in last year’s US presidential election.
