US basketball player Brittney Griner has been sentenced to nine years in a Russian prison
for drug possession and smuggling.
President Biden said the sentence was “unacceptable”.
Griner told the court she had no intention of breaking the law when she brough vape cartridges with cannabis oil into the country while flying to a basketball match.
