UN: Afghanistan will see ‘unprecedented’ civilian casualties as NATO mission departs

Global News published this video item, entitled “UN: Afghanistan will see ‘unprecedented’ civilian casualties as NATO mission departs” – below is their description.

Foreign military forces, including the United States, are preparing to pull out of Afghanistan, as the decades-long, NATO-led mission there winds down.

The U.S. military presence there is set to wrap-up by the end of August, just ahead of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, which triggered the two-decade-long war.

But as Redmond Shannon explains, a UN report says civilian casualties of violence in the country are sharply rising, as conflict continues with Taliban forces and the Afghanistan military.
