Britain requires all UK telecommunication providers to stop buying new Huawei 5G equipment starting next year, and they must also remove all of Huawei’s 5G kit from their networks by 2027. This follows U.S. sanctions, which claim the Chinese tech giant poses a national security threat. Huawei insisted it’s far from a threat, urging the British government to reconsider the ban. It called the move politicized, giving in to pressure from Washington, rather than actual security concerns. Meanwhile, a British spokesman warns the ban could delay the country’s 5G rollout by at least a year. Still, Huawei says it will continue working with the UK to build a better connected Britain.
