Estonia’s defence minister, Hanno Pevkur, says his country’s €350m investment in armaments from Germany is the biggest single procurement in the nation’s history – as its defence budget doubles.
Mr Pevkur said Estonia had “given all of its howitzers to Ukraine” as part of raising its defence budget to 1% of GDP, but the country will do more because “Ukraine is fighting for all of us”.

Overlooking the Dnieper River is the Kiev Pechersk Lavra monastery complex, a Christian pilgrimage site housing Scythian tomb relics and catacombs containing mummified Orthodox monks.
