The Crimea-situated HQ of the Russian Navy’s Black Sea Fleet was hit in a confirmed Ukrainian missile strike Friday. Russia’s defence ministry confirmed one death in the attack and that air defences had destroyed five missiles.

Overlooking the Dnieper River is the Kiev Pechersk Lavra monastery complex, a Christian pilgrimage site housing Scythian tomb relics and catacombs containing mummified Orthodox monks.
