UK coronavirus toll nears Italy’s, PM says nation ‘past the peak’

The United Kingdom is past its coronavirus pandemic peak, according to Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
In his first government briefing since recovering from COVID-19, he promised to lay out plans to ease lockdown rules next week.
The UK death toll, Europe’s second-highest, is heading towards 27,000.
