Two of the UK’s top telecom firms say they need at least five years to remove Huawei equipment from their networks. The heads of Vodafone and BT called for a “sensible time scale” in parliament. Huawei was granted a limited role in the building of Britain’s 5G networks in January. Some British lawmakers say U.S. sanctions would affect the Chinese tech firm’s ability to securely supply crucial equipment. Huawei says it’s too early to make such a judgment and urged against what it calls hasty decisions.
