The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “Turkey earthquakes: Reporter abandons live broadcast to help evacuate young girl” – below is their description.
A Turkish journalist abandoned his live broadcast and rushed to carry a young girl to safety, moments after the street he was reporting from was hit by a second earthquake.
Yuksel Akalan, a reporter for A News, was giving a piece to camera about the first earthquake when a second occurred, and then a building close by collapsed.
He broke into a run along with his cameraman and other residents, continuing his live broadcast despite the danger.
But then he noticed a young girl with her mother across the road. At that point, the reporter abandoned the live news report, ran to the girl and hugged her.
He told the young girl, who was crying with fear, to remain calm as he picked her up and helped her evacuate to safety.
