Japan is facing a power crunch after noticeably hotter weather has raised power demand in the country. Over the weekend of June 24-25, 2022, temperatures for the first time exceeded Japan’s average monthly temperature, topping 42 degrees Celsius (107.6°F). On June 27, the government warned of possible power shortages and urged people to conserve electricity during power-intensive hours.
