Donald Trump’s 26-year-old daughter Tiffany made a rare speech at the Republican Convention on Tuesday night in which she slammed the media and technology companies, suggesting they were keeping Americans “mentally enslaved”.
In her fiery speech, the US president’s youngest daughter said: “Rather than allowing Americans the right to form our own beliefs, this misinformation system keeps people mentally enslaved to the ideas they deem correct. This has fostered unnecessary fear and divisiveness amongst us.”
She added: “People must recognise that our thoughts, opinions, and even the choice of who we vote for are being manipulated and invisibly coerced by the media and tech giants.”
The comments, which echoed rhetoric frequently used by her father, could be taken as a reference to recent actions by Twitter and Facebook to label inaccurate or misleading social media posts by Mr Trump and his campaign.
