Global News published this video item, entitled “The West Block: Oct. 2, 2022 | Putin’s land grab and the race to lead Alberta’s Conservatives” – below is their description.

As the Kremlin moves to formally annex four occupied regions in Ukraine, thousands of would-be conscripts are fleeing Russia, desperate to avoid being drafted into Vladimir Putin’s war machine.

“The West Block” host Mercedes Stephenson speaks with one of the Kremlin’s toughest critics, Bill Browder, on this latest escalation.

Plus, as members of Alberta’s United Conservative Party prepare to choose their new leader — and the province’s new premier — former Wildrose leader Danielle Smith is widely seen as the frontrunner in the race. But will her proposals appeal to voters beyond the UCP faithful?

Stephenson speaks with Alberta pollster Janet Brown on the race to replace Alberta Premier Jason Kenney.
