Mock funerals are being held at Thai temples, drawing hundreds of believers who hope the ritual can bring good fortune and a fresh start after months of living under the shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic. Participants lie in a coffin with their heads facing west, the direction bodies are often traditionally buried, before switching sides to symbolise rebirth.
