South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Taliban opens fire to disperse Afghan women’s rally one year since regaining power” – below is their description.
Taliban members fired into the air to disperse a rare protest in the Afghan capital Kabul on August 13, 2022, two days before the first anniversary of the Taliban regaining control of the country. A group of around 40 women marched to the education ministry, chanting “bread, work and freedom” and “Justice, justice. We’re fed up with ignorance”, until the Taliban broke up the crowd. Taliban members also tore protesters’ banners and seized their mobile phones, according to one of the march organisers.
