A Taliban imam flanked by several gunmen conducted a service at one of Kabul’s biggest mosques.

He preached forgiveness and equal rights for all communities, and appealed to Afghans to work for the development of country rather than leave.

But many continue to try to leave the country.

At the gate of Kabul Airport, a girl yells, ‘Help, help! The Taliban are coming for me.’

And the sight of mothers giving up their children to the embrace of American soldiers says it all about the desperation of many to leave Afghanistan.
