The latest data shows last week’s interest rate rise has dealt consumer confidence yet another blow.

The latest Westpac-Melbourne Institute survey shows that optimism is fading fast with fears over unemployment rising. Overall, the survey shows confidence is still hovering around rock bottom levels last seen during the recessionary years of the late 1980s and early 1990s.
