A dangerous police pursuit across Sydney has ended with a volatile arrest.

Police tried to pull over a stolen truck in Blacktown this morning, but the driver refused to stop.

A pursuit began, but was called off because of safety fears. Polair continued to follow the truck. It was eventually cornered at an intersection off the Cumberland Highway in Smithfield. Police say the 33-year-old driver resisted arrest, but the Tactical Operations Unit was able to take him down.

They handcuffed him in a nearby park. He is being interviewed this afternoon.
