South Korea has announced plans to introduce a ban on dog meat consumption. The decision to introduce a bill by the end of 2023, came as the centuries-old practice has fallen out of favour among young Koreans. Under the plan, companies engaged in the dog meat trade will receive a three-year grace period to phase out their businesses. But some farmers raising dogs as food say the government’s proposal is not realistic.
