Grigore Lup, a Romanian shoemaker, has created long-nosed leather shoes to help keep people apart and respect the social distancing rules.
The novel footwear ensures people stand at least five feet apart – or can be worn by those flouting the rules as punishment.
A pair costs $115 (£101), takes two days and around 10 sq ft of leather to make.
“I saw people crowding and not respecting the social distancing rules and I said to myself let’s make a shoe either to punish them or something they could actually wear and maybe that way they will keep the distance,” said Mr Lup, who lives in the Transylvanian city of Cluj.
