Sir Iain Duncan Smith has told Tory activists he was ‘assaulted by a bunch of protesters’ as he walked to a fringe event at the Conservative Party’s conference in Manchester. The former Tory leader was allegedly hit on the head with a traffic cone as he made his way to a Centre for Brexit Policy event which was outside the conference secure zone. Sir Iain arrived late to the event and walked out on at least one occasion to speak to a police officer.
