The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “Sir Bobby Charlton funeral: Great and good gather to pay respects in Manchester” – below is their description.
The Glazer family, who own Manchester United, are not present at Bobby Charlton’s funeral.
Among those who are in attendance at Manchester Cathedral are Sir Alex Ferguson, Gareth Southgate and the Prince of Wales. Erik ten Hag, the current Manchester United manager, is unable to attend owing to a commitment in the Netherlands.
Charlton’s funeral cortege passed Old Trafford at 1.30pm and the ceremony at Manchester Cathedral started at 2pm. David Gill, the former chief executive of Manchester United, delivered a eulogy on behalf of the club in which he described Charlton as “universally admired”.
