The annual Yuyuan Garden lantern show in Shanghai, which has been listed as one of China’s forms of intangible cultural heritage, is taking place outside of China for the very first time, with 60 large-sized luminous structures and more than 2,000 lanterns illuminating the Jardin d’Acclimatation, the oldest amusement park in Paris. The event forms part of celebrations of the upcoming 2024 New Year, which marks the Year of the Dragon in Chinese zodiac, the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, and the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism.
