Preparations for the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral were underway at Windsor Castle on Saturday morning, as police and wardens patrolled the outer grounds ahead of the televised ceremony at 3pm.
Prince Philip, who died on 9th April at the age of 99 after 73 years of marriage, will be laid to rest in the Royal Vault at Windsor Castle after a funeral service steeped in military and royal tradition – but also pared down in line with coronavirus restrictions and the Duke’s own wishings.
