Global News published this video item, entitled “Russian missiles hit central Ukraine dam, flooding parts of Kryvyi Rih: officials” – below is their description.
Local residents were left to use boats to get around flooded streets in the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after missile strikes by Russia hit a reservoir dam on Thursday, officials said.
Zelenskyy said in an earlier video message that the Karachunov dam, which held “no military value” and was depended on by hundreds of thousands of people, had been hit by a Russian strike. The head of the city’s military administration, Oleksandr Vilkul, said later in the day that Ukrainian authorities had caused two dam explosions and undertaken “large-scale engineering operations” to increase the flow capacity of the Inhulets river.
However, by noon local time on Thursday, some streets remained flooded and water levels were still higher than usual, leaving residents to find different ways to get around, with one resident adding that sewage was not working.
