U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley joined protesters speaking out against racial injustice and police brutality at the March on Washington Friday, 57 years after the first march was held and led by the Rev. Martin Luther King. Jr., on Aug. 28, 1963.
Pressley told protesters that while the United States is “challenged by the state of the nation and the crisis we face,” the movement against racial injustice is strong and “another world is possible.”
Thousands were expected on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on Friday, where the Rev. Martin Luther King. Jr. delivered his historic “I have a Dream” address, a vision of racial equality that remains out of reach for millions of Americans.
